This song is dedicated to everyone who's bored of this digital circus. It's for everyone who wants to claim back the right to own their time.
This song tells the story of an everyday person living in our modern world. This is the story of someone who’s tired of pretending the contradictions are ok. That all the chaos and apathy is ok. This is the story of someone that doesn’t accept the normalised conflict and competition that puts us against each other. This is our story, lived in silence. The story of people that are too distracted and overwhelmed to engage with others, with life, and truly meaningful social interactions. There’s no such thing as “peace through strength”. There’s no such thing as “success” through machiavellian competition. There’s no civilisation of the future that can live in this rhetoric.
"Balancing Act" is about the search for real human connection in a world where everyone’s playing a part. The project dives into that feeling of being detached — from yourself, from others — that comes from constantly performing and trying to fit into the roles society expects. Over time, those performances blur the line between who we really are and who we pretend to be. That confusion creates a kind of loneliness that feels unique to our time — a quiet distance that keeps growing the more we lose touch with our true selves. This EP is an attempt to break through that fog, to reconnect with something honest, both in ourselves and in the people around us.
The meaning behind the song is one of longing for human connection and common ground. The lyrics highlight the sense of detachment from oneself and others that stems from the role-playing and theatrical nature of society. Hopefully it’s a song that can bring people closer to each other. The performative behaviors we learn to adopt transform us into passive characters, blurring the line between our constructed persona and our true, intrinsic self. This cognitive dissonance manifests as a unique sense of isolation, loneliness, and individualism that is characteristic of the society we live in today. By forgetting our intrinsic selves, we also lose touch with the selves of others, creating a spiral of increasing distance from our surroundings.
